The Butterfly Cave Blog | Sweet Nostalgic Memories in Life

We have witnessed so many great things in this lifetime – whether if it was seeing the classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” movie during Christmas for the first time, or seeing MJ doing the moonwalk during the “Billie Jean” Motown 25 performance, greatness is something that we all have experienced and encountered. I am a very nostalgic person, just like many many others, and I absolutely love and will forever admire and enjoy and appreciate all of the greatness that has taken place in life. I soooo believe that life is such a beautiful, exciting, limitless adventure – and there are just some very special, amazing things that have been created and/or curated in this lifetime that I will always cherish and will just simply forever hold-on to. We, as a nation of today, were all born in and/or were brought-up during the late 20th century or the early 21st century – I’m talking the great and ever-exciting 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, and even prior to – so we all know how much greatness came from these years. Let’s travel down memory lane a little bit together – and let’s reminisce on some awesome nostalgic moments and memories in life and simply just the pure essence of the great times…

The Music

Music, music, music – it has ALWAYS been everything to us and a very influential part of our lives and our generation. I wonder where we would all be if Marvin Gaye didn’t ask us the simple question of “What’s Going On,” or if “We Are The Champions” didn’t play at the end of a marathon. Where else would have Doug E. Fresh’s “The Show” beat boxing come from, and what about Selena’s “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom?” Simply put, music has always been the soundtrack to our lives and carries so many memories!

Music has always been such an influential part of our lives and during each and every generation.

The Classic Movies & Entertainment

Talk about some serious classics that have come out during each century – if you’re like me, then you are a #movie #fanatic! If one was to ask me what my all-time favorite movie was or what my fave classic television program is, I honestly couldn’t say simply because there have been so many great classics created – I do have my favorites though, of course, but you get where I am going with this.

From drive-in theaters and cinemas, to late night trips to your local Blockbuster store for VHS tape movies and much-needed snacks.

The Commercials

Even the commercials were great. I know that I am not the only one that watches all of the old commercials, mainly from the 80s, for hours and hours as if it were the actual TV show program – that’s how great and entertaining the commercials were back then. I just love how everything was like a complete musical – no need for a 5-second countdown skip button – it was all pure entertainment and simply enjoyable to watch.

All of the commercials used to be so warm and so refreshing to watch – and I bet you could remember the jingle to a lot of them.

No Technology (or Lack Of) & No Social Media

Yes, I love and use all of the nice technology of today – and yes, Instagram and social media are truly the best tools to ever come about in life when it comes to soooo many things. Yes, we are at the best when it comes to that specific trait in life – but at the same time, it would be nice if it was all used in simple moderation and wasn’t all what people spent their time doing. Why go out on a date or hang out with your friends if you guys are just going to sit there and be on the phone the whole time? Pre-social media and pre-smart phones and technology meant that people were forced to have actual human interaction, which involved a lot of fun, great outdoor, out-and-about activities, and just long-lasting life memories!

The Walkman … the pagers … the boombox … the C.D. players … the GINORMOUS PHONES!

Feel free to share some of your favorite or most memorable nostalgic memories in the Comments section below. I would love to hear them all – cheers to happy living! 🙂
